Q: I'm putting tile down in my bathroom. I am using Hardibacker backer board. Instructions say it requires a layer of "thinset" underneath the backer board then it gets attached with screws. Can I use the same "thinset" that I will be using to attach my wall tiles?
A: well there are different types of thinset that are best for walls versus floor, but most often it's just fine to use the same stuff. What usually makes the difference is the size and weight of the wall tile. If you're using larger tiles on the wall, you might want to consider ProLite.
