Q: Need to repair leaky tub faucet. Where would my home's water shut off valve be if the tub's isnt in the attic? I have already tried to contact the builder (from 1972) to see if we can get the blueprints, but have yet to hear back, and this leak is costing us money and it's not very "green" of us. Hiring a plumber is not an immediate option.
A: you should have a whole house shutoff at the water meter or up by the house where the water service comes into the home. most individual fixtures, like tub/shower valves, do not have independat shut offs especially for a home built in the early 70's you may also look behind the beauty plate at the tub/shower valve and see if the valve its self has isolation valve to make cartrige changing easy. this was populat on some "mixit" brand valves in the 70's and some moens too
